The Green Innovation Fund Project was established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in April 2021 to support research, development, demonstration, and social implementation of carbon neutrality.

Under this program, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will create a 2 trillion yen fund to provide continuous support for 10 years, from R&D and demonstration to social implementation to companies and others that share ambitious and specific goals and address them as management issues.

We are leading the 19th project of the Green Innovation Fund, “Decarbonization of Thermal Processes in the Manufacturing Sector,” as the executive manufacturer of the “Research Association for Decarbon Industrial Thermal System Technology,” which is the executing organization of the project.

Research Themes and Our Role<Theme 1.>
Development of common basic technology for carbon neutral industrial furnaces
<Our Role1.>  
We are working on development in cooperation with universities and other companies that have been involved in pioneering research.

<Theme 2.>
Establishing technology for ammonia combustion furnaces for handling metal products
<Our Role 2.>
We aim to develop an ammonia-fueled “steel forging furnace” by researching low NOx combustion technology and technology to reduce the impact on heated materials and refractory materials.

<Theme 3.>
Establishing technology for hydrogen combustion furnaces for handling metal products
<Our Role 3.>
We aim to develop a “melting and heat treatment furnace” using hydrogen as fuel, by clarifying the combustion characteristics of high temperature air combustion and in low oxidation atmospheres.

<Theme 4.>
Establish technology to reduce capacities and increase efficiency of electric furnaces
<Our Role 4.>
We aim to develop an “all-electric melting furnace” by developing high-efficiency, high-output immersion heaters and minimizing heat loss.
